The stormwater chambers include manholes, catch basins, inlets, area/yard drains, and stormwater dry wells. The location of the stormwater structures were derived from a field survey, field verification, paper and/or electronic record drawings, and/or construction drawings. Mapping of the stormwater chambers was initiated in 1989 by the Stormwater Engineering Division. The initial mapping occurred within the AutoCAD (Autodesk) software environment. Over the years the information had migrated to the ArcCAD (ESRI), ArcView (ESRI), Lynx (Ch2MHill engineering), and finally to GeoMedia and MS Access database. On July 2006 the Access database was migrated to SQL Server database Infrastructure as a feature class. The dataset is being maintained on daily basis by the GIS Services group The purpose of the dataset is to provide accurate location and system information about the stormwater manholes, catch basins, inlets, area/yard drains, and stormwater dry wells.
