The locations of the pipes were derived from field verification, paper and electronic record drawings, and/or construction drawings. Mapping of the wastewater pipes was initiated in 1994 by the Water/Wastewater Engineering Division. The initial mapping occurred within Microstation (Bentley, Inc.) software environment and Lynx (Ch2MHill Engineering). Lynx was an AM/FM (automated mapping facility management) add-on to Microstation. In 2004 the data were migrated to GeoMedia and SQL Server 2000 database. The dataset is being maintained on daily basis by the GIS Services group The purpose of the dataset is to provide accurate location and system information about the wastewater pipes.
